Learning Leadership Skills

Frank Nigriello, chairman of OB1 and Director of Corporate Affairs for Unipart Group, was asked to provide an overview of leadership as a skill set for young people at an online conference run by OxLEP Skills, in collaboration with The Careers & Enterprise Company and LearnLive. It brought together local businesses and sectors to take part in a Webinar to help young people in years 11, 12 & 13 better understand their career options and the skills employers are looking for.

Unipart is a cornorstone employer on the OxLep Partnership, and Frank has been chairman of the Business Class cluster which partnered individual local schools with an Oxfordshire business.

Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) is a business-led partnership between local authorities, education providers and private sector businesses and plays a central role in determining local economic priorities, undertakes activities that drive economic growth, creates jobs and increases workforce skills within the local area.

Young people are at the heart of its ambition – ensuring a suitably qualified and skilled workforce is key to achieving sustainable growth. OxLep aims to strengthen and optimise links between employers and educators, enabling young people to become work ready, building awareness of the skills needed in local businesses and how to obtain them.
